Life is Fragile - part two

When I wrote THIS entry in June, I never imagined that in August, it would be MY turn to sit in a hospital 18 hours a day.

My husband came home from a 6 day scout camping trip barely able to stand and with an enormous headache. Within a few hours, he was in the hospital with meningitis caused by an unknown virus or bacteria.

On top of that, his immune system has gone out of control and is attacking the fluid in his lower spinal cord and he is unable to move or feel much below the waist.

Oddly, I can't bring myself to take any photos. It's like I can't document this because I don't really believe it's happening and I don't want to remember it.

He's going to survive this. But, life is so fragile and loved-one so precious. Sometimes I think we forget that in our daily run to outplay, outwit, outlast everyone else.

Slow down and spend some time today with those that mean the most to you...

Kim you are in our thoughts and prayers. Mark will survive. A member of your ward contracted the disease you speak of when he was 3 yrs old and lost his hearing. Two dr.s worked with him. One gave up and the other kept going. They drained spinal fluid repeatedly. He came through. He's in his 60's today. We know in our hearts your Mark will come through this and be a strong testimony of faith and the power of prayer.
