Miss Elizabeth should stay at the Dollar Store...

I've seen this trick at a couple of places and it always strikes me as bizarre. My folks live in a small town with a BIG Dollar Tree store nearby. This Dollar Tree gets a pretty good supply of the Miss Elizabeth's line of scrapbook products. The sticker sheets retail at The Dollar Tree for, yup, you guessed it - A DOLLAR! Paper is 4 sheets for buck.

Nearby, a small scrapbook store opened up. When I was over visiting my folks, I stopped into the LSS to check it out. Probably 10% of their pegs were filled with Miss Elizabeth's stuff. Was it all a dollar? Nope, it was all TWO DOLLARS! That was so bizarre. Just 2 miles away, you could get the same products for half the price. Did they think they were fooling anyone?? I felt sorry for the few poor souls who fell for it.

This is just one of those things that make you go, "HUH?" I can't imagine stocking your scrapbook store with dollar store products that you doubled the price on - especially if you are just a couple of miles away from your "distributor".

Weird. Doesn't it say in the fine print on the products "Manufactured for Dollar Tree Distribution"? Odd.

I've linked this post for my readers as I just discovered this line at Dollar Tree today. I'm so excited. Thanks for the info!

I live in California and found the exact thing happened here except the Dollar Tree is in a shopping center directly across the street from the scrapbook store! Not only is the scrapbook store owner stocking her shelves, and marking up the price, with things from the Dollar Tree but also with sale items from Michaels....which is in the same shopping center!

I am a scrapbooking junkie. I've never seen a scrapbooking store do this so I find it surprising. I'm used to seeing this type of gouging on Ebay. They want $2.99 for the sticker or paper and $3.00 to ship it to you and $.50 per additiona item. It's ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

"Gouging" is a strong word to use regarding a 2 or 3 dollar item. Anyway, one of the basics of business is "buy low, sell high." You sell or resell products based on what the market will bear. If someone finds your product for 2.99 plus shipping, and they are happy to pay for it, it's none of their business what you paid for it or where you bought it. Would it be different if the sign on the Dollar Tree store said "Scrapbook Wholesale Outlet" and was the same distance away?

I found the CUTEST stickers at the Dollar Tree by Miss Elizabeth's today! They're called "A is for Apple". I would love to use them for a theme for my children's room...but could only find the sheets of stickers. Do you know where I could find more of the same collection....like big alphabet letters on 12 x 12 paper that I could frame or decoupage onto the wall??? I've done some preliminary internet searches and am not coming up with much :( Thanks! Erica

Nope, the Miss Elizabeth's line is exclusively manufactured FOR the Dollar Tree and if they don't have anything like that there, then you probably won't find it. That line is not available through any other outlet.

I have found 2 Dollar Trees stores that carry the 12x12 protection sheets for scrpbooking pages. I am having a hard time finding them now..... Also you used to carrry tht 2-sided tape (I loved that) but like everthing elso. At Christmas everything was gone and I haven't seen it in the stores again.

My question is can we get some through you?? Or can we order from you???? I put scrapping books together for people, but I need my supplies.

Can you help me??? and tell me who I need to call or do I need to go through a Dollar Tree Store.

I would like to thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you,

Does anyone know if the page protectors are PVC free? Its doesn't say on the package and I was trying to find some info on the internet.

I just bought a ton of the 12x12 page protectors from the Dollar Tree. I love the material they are made of - nice and clear. I also like the fact thay they have the extra "gusset" down the inside so that pages will lay flat. I am also wondering if they are PVC free. Does anyone know?

There are several Dollar Tree Stores in our area. They don't always have the same items so our Scrap booking group covers them all. Miss Elizabeth
papers are great and the package usually makes 2 or 3 pages. Right now our stores have a good supply of double sided tape buy lots for when they don't. Yes Miss Elizabeth should stay at Dollar Tree.

I'm an AVID shopper at my local Dollar Store SPECIFICALLY FOR "Miss Elizabeths" scrapbooking products OOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY! Of course I go to Michaels and Hobby Lobby once a week, soemtimes more......BUT, since I've seen all the M.E's stuff at the $ store...WOW....ya'll took pretty much 98% of MY business away from them other guys ;-), LOL. and...EVERYtime I get a dollar in my pocket, LOOK OUT! The kids better be fed already and the car better already have gas because, MAMAS ON A MISSION to the DOLLAR STORE for SB-ing stuff (GOD, my kids HATE it when i go there because they know I take FOREVER, even if I already went 2-3 days before.) THATS BECAUSE this mama knows theyre always putting out newer stuff and taking away the rest :-( and MAMAS GOTTA HAVE ONE OF EVERYTHING!( MOST of the time, I'll sell a kidney or other, so I can have 2!!! of everything), hahahahahaha. I ONLY shop there FOR THE SCRAPBOOKING SUPPLIES and would probably come down with a fever and become very ill if they ever stopped selling "Miss Elizabeths" SB-ing stuff there, hahaha. Some of the things i CONSTANTLY spend my money on, in there, is: the foam dots (all differnet shapes and sizes), THE STICKERS (of course), the 12X12 SB-ing paper KITS, the embellishments AND.......the occassional scrapbooking TOOLS (like the paper crimpers and shape cutting scissors. Does anyone know if there is SOME KIND OF WAY, to get a hold of someone from the company, and to be able to find out how we might be able to find out JUST ALL WHAT DO THEY HAVE FOR SCRAPBOOKING (supplies). I'm sure I speak for MANY of my fellow scrappers when I say "I'd even take a day off work JUST TO GO THROUGH ALL THE MISS ELIZABETHS SCRAPBOOKING STUFF AT THE DOLLAR STORE".....LMFAO!!!.....If anyone has any info.....PLEASE let me know ;-) multitaskmommie@gmail.com

I LOVE Miss Elizabeth's items! She definitely needs to stay at the Dollar Tree. When I go, I just sit on the floor and go through all of the scrapbooking stuff, sometimes I am there for hours. I live in El Paso, Texas and we have a lot of Dollar Tree stores. I have been known to go to 4 or 5 different stores in a day looking for different supplies or maybe just one particular pack of stickers to match a pack of paper. so ladies why don't we do this, If someone is looking for a certain item (stickers, paper, etc) and we can't find them where we live, how about reaching out to one another and searching for that item and whomever finds the item send it to that person free of charge. I have tons of packs of paper that I would love to find stickers or other items for. So if anyone is interested how about meeting here on a regular basis (or we can exchange e-mail addresses)to find out what we are looking for and we can start searching, I have at least 2 packs of each paper that I have found. I also copy my stickers and I scan them and put them on my computer ( hope to one day have the all done so that I can put them on disc) that way I will always have or can make a copy a certain sheet of stickers. I don't know about anybody else but I enjoy shopping and searching for supplies just as much as I like to use them. So if I have some that you can't find, I'll be happy to send them to you or whatever. my name is Linda Palmer and this is strickly a hobby. My email address is lcpalmerlovingtoscrap@yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from you ladies.

I love the idea of the scrapbook exchange for Miss Elizabeth's stuff. I found a bunch of new artsy, bohemian-looking papers at Dollar Trees in Wisconsin and I bought all they had! Does anyone have the coordinating stickers?

02/27/08 Hi folks,
I am in NJ and do not find the Miss Elizabeth's items any longer in the stores here, except for the paper packs. I love the adhesive rollers and I am so disappointed not to find them anymore! Is the product line still be stocked in other areas of the country??

I'm in OH and I have noticed the lack of merchandise. So, I called and talked to the store assistant manager. She gave me a number where you can call and order Miss E's stuff and it will be sent to the store. It is 1-877-20-DEALS. It would be better if you have a UPC or the SKU numbers. I am not sure how it is done, but you might have to order a case of it? The stickers, she said, come with something like 6 different ones. This is all I know. I hope this helps!

I am in El Paso TX as well and when my daughter turned 5 (june 18, 2008) she was given a cute little starter kit and I have been noticing for a few years all the scrapbooking stuff they had. Needless to say just spent BIG BUCKS on some stuff and I LOVE IT! You can not beat the prices at the Dollar Tree store!

My Store manager tells me they are not going to carry Miss Elizabeth's anymore. ARE THEY CRAZY? Please check with your stores to find out if your stores are still carrying Miss Elizabeth's.

Today I was informed at "my" Dollar Tree that the scrapbooking supplies are not going to be replaced as they sell and eventually Miss Elizabeth will no longer be in the store. That is a BIG disappointment. Does anyone know why and what, if anything, can be done?!?

Since February, the stores near me have only had a few pieces - looks like just leftovers. I had bought some great glitter letter in several colors and I wish I had bought every package they had! I guess ME is gone and never coming back *sigh*

i'm in central texas and there are 4 DT really near me...for the past 6 months they've not been getting anything new in the way of paper packs. Today I noticed that the racks were gone. I asked and they only said that they were told to take them down. Now I'm on a mad search for a couple of packs that I want more of and for the page protectors!!
Wish we could petition!

I went to dollartree.com and found the section "contact us." I expressed my disappointment about them no longer carrying Miss Elizabeth's. I made the point that I always came in for ME and of course bought other items while I was there and now don't have as much reason to visit the store. You get the drift. Why don't we all contact them and let them know how we feel?

I found Miss Elizabeth's scrapbook supplies at Dollar Tree a few years ago and now I can not find pages to fit the scrapbook. THese supplies at Dollar Tree have dwindled to nearly nothing and so has my hobby.

I am the manager of a LSS and I will tell you that we actually ordered the Miss Elizabeths stickers for our store and they didn't come from the dollar tree. They came from our regular distributor that we order all of the high end scrapbook supplies from. The owner of the store does not shop at dollartree and did not even know that those were sold there for a dollar until I told her. She said that our rep sent her the company name and told her that is was a new line that they had picked up. So maybe the Miss Elizabeths brand has expanded past the Dollartree. So just to let all of you know, Some of those store owners may not even know what they are selling if they don't shop at the Dollartree and sometimes those type of stores end up with top name brand scrapbook items from companies other than Miss Elizabeths due to overstocking, not selling well in other stores, etc. Not all of the Dollartree's products are manufactured by the Dollartree. And for anyone who was wondering, we did sell ours for $1.00.

I am just reading all of the comments about ME not being in the Dollartree anymore. It's probably because they are now selling to all of the scrapbook distributors so that they can be carried in all of the LSS. They probably know that if the LSS know that they are in a dollarstore then they wont carry them in their store. I know once we sold out of ours then we did not reorder them from our distributor because I told the owner about them being in the dollartree, (she didn't know), and we didn't want them in our store if they were also in the dollarstore.

I live in west Texas and also love going to the Dollar Tree for Miss Elizabeths...sadly the last few times I was in Dollar Tree they told me they were not going to carry scrapbooking supplies anymore after what they have is gone. I have been going from one to the other ever since gathering up all I can get before its gone.

i live in arkansas and our dollar tree still has ME page protectors, paper, and some stickers. i complain all the time to them about letting their supplied run low, and they assured me they were not discontinuing ME supplies. my email is jhansen@ffb1.com and i'm all for if someone is looking for something or i am if you can find it, swapping...thats great

I live in South Carolina and a few minutes in Georgia and our Dollar Tree Stores did away with almost all their Scrapbooking stuff. They stop selling their Miss Elizabeth supply. That really up set me. I built my whole supply from there.

I live in West Virginia, and ALL of our Dollar Trees have now STOPPED carring scrapbook supplies, what happened, I kept them in buisness myself. WE WANT IT BACK!

I agree with everyone about the miss elizabeths scrapbooking supplies sold at dollar tree. They are fantastic! However, I hate to be the one to break the news, but all the dollar tree stores within about 100 miles from me here in SW Virginia have stopped selling these supplies-- makes me so upset, because I ccould always go in and spend 5 to 10 dollars and get some gret things!

I'm desparate for the ME page protectors! So cheap! I can't afford any others. My Dollar Tree barely has any ME now. :(
