Hall of Shame

I really should start one. It's amazing to me how much large scale theft goes on in our happy little industry. I mean, seriously people, what would motivate you? Do you really feel entitled to that cute little decorated tin on display at the trade show? Do you really need to clean out a vendor after hours at a convention? How about the burglary that forced a store owner to close her doors (it happened to a ScrapBiz member)? What about the woman who sets up a business but never sends orders? How about the direct sales company owner who was charging credit cards as fast as she could while her warehouse was being seized by the tax man? Or the man who was taking bookings for his retreat knowing it was an illegal operation?

It's just paper and stickers. And, it's really not that hard to start a business if you really want to do that. Nor is it difficult to run a legitimate one. I guess some people feel entitled to 100% profit. When something was essentially "free" to you, you don't care if you sell it at half of the wholesale price. I guess my caution to consumers is that if the prices are suspiciously low, then the red flag should pop up.

Thank you to the judge in Oregon who gave a major scrapbook thief 22 months in prison and 3 years probation. LINK to the story. Every store owner in Oregon, Washington and Northern California ought to memorize her happy face because she'll be out in less than 2 years.

Perhaps she can teach scrap classes in prison...
